General Policy

Knowledge Gate International School Admissions Policy fully embraces diversity and does not discriminate against any child or family. All children are welcome to apply regardless of nationality, ethnicity or religion.

We are a truly international diverse institution for parents who wish for their children to receive a British-style global education.

English Language Learning

At Knowledge Gate International School, English is the primary language of teaching and operation (alongside Arabic for those on the Bilingual Programme). For students who have English as a second language, we provide some English Language Support, however, we are unfortunately unable to offer intensive remedial programmes for students falling more than a grade level behind in English language ability.

Intensive support to develop age-appropriate English language skills may be offered to a limited number of students in each grade, however, parents are encouraged to provide additional English language support, at their own expense.

Class Size Policy

The class teacher-student ratio in Kindergarten is 1:24 and in each classroom the students are overseen by a teacher and a teaching assistant.

In all other year groups, the ratio is 1:26. Please be advised that Knowledge Gate International School retains the right to increase the class size when the situation warrants it, such as when students are grouped according to their ability in specific subjects. No class, however, will operate with a teacher-student ratio that is in excess of 1:28.

Application Requirements

All completed online receipts must be accompanied by proof of payment of the registration fee of OMR 300. Please note this amount is non-refundable and non-transferrable.

For every application, Knowledge Gate International School requires the following original documents for each child. Failure to provide these documents may result in your child’s application being declined:

Child’s birth certificate

Parent’s marriage certificate (Religious or Civil marriage)

Copy of parent’s passport and residence card (if available)

Copy of child’s passport

A recent passport-style photo of the child

Latest school report (if applicable)

Letter from the previous school confirming that no fees are outstanding (if applicable)

Please note that applications will not be processed until full documentation and payment of registration fee has been received.

On receipt of an application, all children will be assessed to ensure they meet our entry criteria. For international students, Knowledge Gate International School will contact the child’s existing school to make arrangements to courier placement tests so that the children may undertake these in their own school. The expense of this action is to be borne by the parents of the child making the application.
Please be advised all children admitted to Knowledge Gate International School must be fluent in English at an age-appropriate level.

Special Educational Needs

At Knowledge Gate International School we welcome students with a range of learning requirements, from Special Educational Needs and disabilities to students who are gifted and talented. Our staff are committed to educating all students in a common learning environment with similarly-aged peers.

We kindly ask all parents to share full details of any special educational needs, individual education plans (IEPs), and any Educational Psychologist, Paediatric, or other specialist reports (e.g. Speech and Language or Occupational Therapy) where applicable.

Sharing information with us prior to a place being offered is essential to enable our staff to facilitate an appropriate assessment of your child’s educational needs. Providing us with all the relevant information ensures that your child’s needs can be adequately supported via an educational plan supported by the necessary resources. Very rarely, it may not be in the best interests of the child to be placed at KGIS.
